“Tar Pits” by Samuel L.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Tar Pits is a painting part of a larger series by Samuel L., a painter and ceramic artist. Each painting connects to the other one. In Tar Pits, “My grandmother inspired this painting. She didn’t believe in dinosaurs, because she did not believe in evolution,” Sam has said. In Led Zeppelin, another painting from the series, which was, “the first painting I started on with this series. It began my process of creating surreal landscapes. I started painting the land and then I incorporated strange creatures. I imagined these scenes from doodles and a combination of research from National Geographic.” See more work from Sam here.
